The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are working together on an initiative to promote the use of energy-efficient products in commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities by awarding the ENERGY STAR® label to numerous products used by these businesses that can save energy. Light fixtures that carry the ENERGY STAR® label meet federal energy-efficiency and quality guidelines, without sacrificing performance. ENERGY STAR® Lighting Fixtures help play a role in pollution prevention while saving money on energy bills. But they offer many other benefits, including:
There are currently 38 manufacturers who have signed a memorandum of understanding with EPA, and there are over 200 products currently offered.
Additional information about the ENERGY STAR® Light Fixtures program can be found at http://www.epa.gov/appdstar/fixtures/, or by calling 1-888-STAR-YES.
